About

LisaMarie learned to sew making historically accurate costumes for herself and others while participating at the Renaissance Faire and in the Society for Creative Anachronism.  This led to theatrical costuming for community and professional theater productions for over ten years.  Leaving the theater world behind to raise a family, knitting and crocheting became the emphasis for her creative endeavors during this busy time.  A few years ago, the desire to master zippers (which are not historically accurate) renewed her passion for sewing.  This led to discovering the enjoyment of craft sewing and quilting, especially zipper pouches and other practical items.  An interest to explore (modern) garment sewing brought her to BurdaStyle patterns and she became a Certified BurdaStyle Teacher.  Her passion to know how things work and explain it others led her to teaching machine instruction at a local sewing machine store. She enjoys taking the mystery out of how a serger (aka overlocker) works and showing all the things you can do with it beyond finishing seams. LisaMarie, has been teaching handwork, with a focus on fiber arts over 20 years; she enjoys teaching beginning adult students how to sew (using their sewing, embroidery, serger, coverstitch machines), knit, crochet, and occasionally, how to hand dip beeswax candles.
